About Seddon
Last updated 19 October 2026
Seddon 1.1 is a small AI model for chat and coding, made by Gloath Limited, an AI company in New Zealand. It runs entirely in your web browser: after a one-time download of about 140 MB, every reply is worked out on your own device.
It's a research preview. Next to the large assistants you may know, it's small, so it often gets facts wrong and loses track in long answers. It can hold a simple conversation and write short pieces of code. More capable models, Seddon 1.2 and Tupaia 1.1, are on the way. Try Seddon now.

How it works
When you sign in, your browser downloads Seddon once and keeps it. From then on, every reply is worked out on your own device by an engine Gloath wrote that runs in the browser. On most recent computers and phones it uses your graphics card through WebGPU; otherwise it runs on your processor, which is slower. To help train Gloath's future models, copies of chats are sent to Gloath, stored encrypted and filed without your name or email (Gloath Pro members can turn this off for new chats).
What you need
- A recent version of Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox. On most computers and phones these can use your graphics card (through WebGPU), which makes Seddon much faster.
- About 140 MB of free storage and a few hundred MB of free memory.
- An internet connection to sign in and download Seddon the first time.
Gloath Pro
Seddon is free. Gloath Pro, from NZ$5 a month, keeps every chat, backs them up so they're on every device you sign in on, lets you keep your new chats out of training, and gives you new Gloath models and features first.
Run Seddon on your own computer
Seddon 1.1 is free to download from Hugging Face and runs in the usual tools for local AI models.

Questions
Is Seddon free?
Yes. Chatting with Seddon on ai.gloath.com is free, with no limit on messages, and the model itself is free to download and use, including commercially, under the Apache License 2.0.
What's Gloath Pro?
An optional subscription, from NZ$5 a month. It keeps every chat (the free plan keeps a set number), backs them up so they're on every device you sign in on, lets you keep your new chats out of training, and gives you new Gloath models and features first. See Gloath Pro.
Why do I need an account?
It lets us see who is using Seddon, keep the site free from abuse, keep your settings with you, and, if you'd like, tell you when new models are ready.
What happens to my chats?
Seddon works out its replies in your browser, and your chats are kept there. Copies are also sent to Gloath to help train future models, stored encrypted and filed without your name or email; Gloath Pro members can turn this off for new chats. With Gloath Pro and backup on, an encrypted backup is kept for your account, so your chats are on all your devices. If you allow analytics, we see things like how many messages people send, but never what anyone writes. The privacy policy has the details.
Does Gloath train its models on my chats?
Yes, to make future models better. On the free plan, copies of your chats help train Gloath's models. On Gloath Pro you can turn it off for new chats, in Settings, under Data. Deleting a chat deletes its copy, and the thumbs up and down on replies show which answers are good.
Does Seddon work offline?
Partly. You need an internet connection to open the site and sign in, and the first time, to download Seddon. After that, Seddon writes its replies without one.
Why is it slow, or the replies odd?
Speed depends on your device. With a graphics card Seddon is quick; on a processor alone it writes a few words a second, and takes a while to read a long conversation. Small models also wander and repeat themselves: Seddon cuts off a reply that starts repeating, and “Try again” gives you another answer. In Settings you can make replies more or less predictable.
How is Seddon different from ChatGPT?
Seddon is far smaller and runs on your own device instead of on a company's servers. That makes it free to run and quick to start, but much less capable. Think of it as an early model, not a replacement for a large assistant.
Is Seddon open source?
Its weights are open: you can download, change and share the model under the Apache License 2.0.
How do I remove it from my computer?
In Settings, under Data, choose “Remove downloaded models” and “Delete all chats”. You can delete your account under Account.
